U.S.VETS—the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending veteran homelessness—is seeking a motivated and compassionate Veteran Support Specialist to join our Las Vegas team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience, is eager to learn, and is ready to be part of a supportive team helping veterans move toward stability and independence. As a Veteran Support Specialist, you’ll provide day-to-day support within our residential programs while building meaningful connections with veterans. You’ll work under the guidance of experienced supervisors and alongside case managers and clinical staff to help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment. This role may support different programs based on need, including: Transitional Housing: Help veterans move from homelessness to stable housing Long-Term Supportive Housing: Support housing stability and independence Mental Health Programs: Assist in structured, recovery-focused environments

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience in social services, customer service, or working with people preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and data entry)
  • Valid driver’s license required; must meet company insurance requirements and complete driver training
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts as needed

Responsibilities

  • Support Veterans Daily: Build rapport and maintain respectful, professional relationships with clients
  • Create Structure & Stability: Help maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic community environment
  • De-escalate & Problem Solve: Address conflicts and challenging behaviors with professionalism and care
  • Support Life Skills Development: Assist with groups, activities, and one-on-one support focused on daily living skills
  • Coordinate & Communicate: Work with case managers and team members to support client goals
  • Maintain Documentation: Complete incident reports, logs, and client records accurately and timely
  • Transport & Support Access: Assist clients with getting to appointments and accessing community resources
  • Participate & Learn: Attend team meetings, trainings, and program activities to build your skillset
