As a Veterinary Services Intern at Mountaire Farms, you will gain hands-on experience working with our live operations and veterinary team to support flock health, welfare, and performance initiatives. You will complete a project focused on improving bird health, welfare, and/or performance parameters, giving you the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting while learning about the poultry industry from a veterinary perspective.

  • Assist in evaluating bird health, welfare, and performance metrics across live operations.
  • Participate in on-farm visits with veterinary service technicians to observe flock management practices and biosecurity protocols.
  • Collect and analyze health and production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support projects aimed at enhancing animal welfare standards and ensuring compliance with company and industry guidelines.
  • Gain exposure to vaccination programs, disease monitoring, and flock management strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how veterinary services contribute to overall live operations success.
  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Must have proof of acceptance to Veterinarian School.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Previous poultry experience through coursework, farm work, or internship.
  • Currently enrolled in or applying to Veterinary School, with a strong interest in poultry medicine and animal health.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data handling, including entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong ability to collect, organize, and interpret flock health and performance data.
  • Comfortable working in field conditions (hot, dusty, and farm environments) while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for working with veterinary staff, growers, and live operations teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a willingness to learn and apply new concepts.
