About The Position

The Venture Manager helps bring the Venture (short-term missions) program to life by ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly and that Venture Travelers feel supported, informed, and well equipped when visiting the places Children of the Nations (COTN) serves. This role works closely with Venture Team leaders, offering coaching, encouragement, and practical support to help teams thrive. In addition, the Venture Manager ensures that promotional and recruitment materials, training modules, and internal operational systems are developed and delivered on schedule. In addition, this role provides thoughtful leadership and supervision to the Venture Coordinator, cultivating a collaborative, organized, and supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with short-term or long-term missions, as well as international travel, is preferred.
  • Proficiency with standard word processing and related software used to manage detailed communication and complex participant interactions.
  • A genuine and demonstrated interest in all aspects of COTN’s ministry.
  • A deep commitment to upholding COTN’s Mission and Vision, and to modelling its values across all communications, conduct, operations, policies, and practices.
  • A relational and collaborative approach, with strong communication skills, self-initiative, and a confident, responsible, and personable demeanor.
  • Previous experience managing staff is preferred.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and consistently demonstrates a gracious, Christ-centered approach in all interactions within and beyond Children of the Nations (COTN).
  • Faithfully supports and upholds COTN’s ministry through regular prayer.
  • Serves as an advocate for our children by raising awareness of their needs and potential, and by inspiring greater involvement among those within one’s sphere of influence.
  • Actively engages in the life of the COTN community by participating in weekly prayer gatherings, monthly all-staff meetings, and the annual Homecoming week.
  • Participates fully in annual goal-setting processes and employee performance evaluations.
  • Supports efforts to increase awareness of and financial support for COTN’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all six phases of the Venture program, from team acquisition through post-trip follow-up, ensuring a smooth and well-supported experience throughout.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Venture Team Leaders when a COTN staff member is not leading the trip.
  • Coordinate Venture Teams as necessary to ensure readiness and a successful experience in country.
  • Partner with senior management to develop and refine processes that support clarity, consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Recruit new Venture Teams by developing effective promotion and acquisition tools in collaboration with the Community Development and Advancement teams.
  • Design and maintain engaging training resources, including participant manuals, videos, and other learning materials.
  • Update, edit, and maintain U.S. Venture Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and alignment with best practices.
  • Maintain key Venture resources and records, including Venture Vitals, U.S. Venture calendars, pricing, and the Venture Projects Master List.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of all Venture program components in partnership with each country’s Implementing Venture Coordinator and international staff.
  • Collaborate with country-based Implementing Venture Coordinators to support Venture policies and practices as needed.
  • Work closely with COTN Operations and International departments to plan, coordinate, and deliver training and program support.
  • Ensure data is saved on SharePoint and manage Venture SharePoint site.
  • Lead Venture Standards of Service audits in required years and complete comprehensive year-end summaries for each country.
  • Coordinate all normal travel logistics for Medical/Surgical Venture Teams in addition to working with our Physical Care Specialists to prepare them for their service in the country. Know and execute the specialty aspects of these teams.
