About The Position

As a Venture Associate, you’ll be an instrumental part of the investment team—helping to identify promising startups, conducting in-depth analysis, and collaborating with portfolio companies. Reporting to the Managing Partner and supporting Principal-level colleagues and the Investment Team, you’ll play a critical role in evaluating investment potential, driving due diligence, and supporting deal execution and portfolio monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, STEM, or a relevant field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 0-2 years of experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm, investment bank, growth fund, startup, or related setting.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, with ability to assess market sizing, unit economics, revenue models, and cap table dynamics.
  • Well-versed in software tools such as Excel, Pitchbook, Crunchbase, Pitchbook, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Capable of synthesizing complex research into compelling narratives.Comfortable engaging with founders, investors, and advisors.
  • Resourceful self-starter who takes initiative and approaches challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptionally organized with a sharp eye for detail and follow-through.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Brings intellectual curiosity, strong critical thinking, and a proactive, collaborative approach to building partnerships.
  • Possesses experience or strong interest in AI tools, technologies, and industry trends, and can apply this knowledge to market research, deal evaluation, and portfolio support.

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Direct exposure to early-stage investing or startup operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive research to identify early-stage companies across sectors and geographies.
  • Attend founder-led events, demo days, and conferences to build network and source potential investments.
  • Perform thorough competitive and market analysis across sectors such as AI, healthcare, fintech, sustainability, etc.
  • Identify market trends, key players, pain points, and growth potential.
  • Build financial models, analyze unit economics, revenue forecasts, and cost structures.
  • Evaluate team background, product-market fit, traction, business model, and fundraising needs.
  • Coordinate and conduct due diligence—including customer and industry expert calls, reference checks, and legal/document review.
  • Draft clear, persuasive investment memos, presentations, and other materials for investment committee review.
  • Assist with term sheet evaluation, capitalization table management, and final funding execution.
  • Support portfolio company founders with introductions, strategic insights, and operational best practices.
  • Monitor KPIs, business milestones, and industry benchmarks to track portfolio company performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Investor Relations, Marketing, and Operations teams.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives such as deal flow strategy, knowledge sharing, and process enhancements.
  • Publish expert insights or blog posts on trends and industry developments.
  • Represent Alumni Ventures at conferences, panels, and demo showcases.
