About The Position

The Vendor Sourcing Specialist II plays a key role in supporting Southwest Power Pool’s enterprise procurement by managing multiple aspects of vendor sourcing activities to maximize value and ensure compliance with purchasing policies. This position partners closely with internal business owners and cross-functional teams to facilitate vendor sourcing activities, including requests for quotes (RFQs), contract negotiations, purchasing processes, and contract renewals. This position operates with moderate supervision, exercising sound judgment and professionalism while cultivating strong vendor partnerships and leveraging analytical insights to deliver effective procurement outcomes that support SPP’s mission and operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience in vendor sourcing-related roles
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives, business owners/knowledge experts, and technical experts
  • Ability to solve problems of moderate complexity, that involve multiple departments and people
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, both internal and external
  • Proficient financial, analytical, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail, including Accuracy and precision in task execution Thorough review of documents and data Consistency in work quality Documentation and record-keeping accuracy Follow-through to ensure completeness and correctness
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to interpret and maintain compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vendor contracts are clearly defined, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational policies and strategic objectives
  • Develop RFQs and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure competitive bidding and alignment with SPP’s purchasing policy and supply chain strategy
  • Negotiate vendor contracts to achieve cost-effective, risk-mitigated, and value-added outcomes
  • Coordinate renewal activities for vendor products and services, ensuring continued access to the product or service, timely updates, and technical support
  • Support internal and external audits, maintain required documentation, and enforce purchasing policy compliance
  • Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
