About The Position

We are looking for an individual that understands the automotive electrical system and that knows how to work on vehicles. As a Vehicle Prep Technician your primary responsibilities will be building police cars. This includes installing, repairing, testing, and removing 12-volt law enforcement vehicle equipment, including, but not limited to light bars, flashers, sirens, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, and more. For this position automotive or marine 12v experience is a plus. Transdev Fleet Services works on police, public safety and other vehicles for both local and federal accounts. The Installer must be able to perform physically demanding tasks that may require accessing confined spaces to modify the vehicles to the client’s requirements. Operating Monday- Friday. Some weekend work may be applicable for large projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience is desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of vehicle wiring
  • Able to identify electrical circuits.
  • Able to communicate well with others.
  • Able to work on and see small objects.
  • Good hearing and color vision
  • Be prompt and prepared to work.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive or marine 12v experience
  • Experience w/ installation of emergency lighting desired but not required.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification is desired, but not required.
  • ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, repairing, testing, and removing 12-volt law enforcement vehicle equipment, including, but not limited to light bars, flashers, sirens, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, and more.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs & troubleshooting of low & high voltage electrical systems with minimal supervision.
