Vehicle Operator / Auxiliary Services Job Summary: Transports individuals to the directed destination according to program and agency guidelines.

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or transporting individuals.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal applicant must have experience working with the developmental disabilities population and operating a 10 to 15 passenger vehicle, operating ADA Equipment Vehicles with Wheelchair Lift.

Responsibilities

  • Provides transportation to individuals within the agency; assists with boarding and exiting the vehicles; traveling the most efficient routes.
  • Performs routine maintenance and safety checks of vehicles.
  • Promptly reports all accidents and mechanical breakdowns according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Inspects vehicles for safe operations utilizing safety equipment efficiently, ensuring the use of safety belts.
  • Assist with transporting individuals to hospitals, clinics, social functions, and/or other activities according to established guidelines and time frames.
  • Communicate individuals' emerging behavioral and/or medical concerns to the supervisor within 24 hours of knowledge.
  • Maintain a valid and appropriate license to operate the assigned vehicle.
  • Accurately record required mileage, fuel consumption, passenger information, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
  • Assist with Inventory Management (stocking, sorting, & delivering)
  • Assist with monthly IDD Residential Deliveries (food shopping & deliveries)
  • Assist with mail services
  • Assist with transportation duties as assigned or needed as back-up
  • Other duties assigned through Auxiliary Services
