About The Position

Develop vehicle and equipment specifications and write purchase requisitions for all of WE vehicles and equipment to be acquired. Job duties include monitoring the fleet capital budget, all typing associated with specifications, requisitions, receipting, and disposal of retired equipment.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have experience as a max-rated Fleet Technician within the last year.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s requirements for driving.
  • Applicant must obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) within 90 days of entry into the job.
  • Applicant must comply with DOT Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Comprehension of pictured mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulley systems, water flow, etc. (CAST - Other level)
  • Arithmetic skills in calculating distances shown in prints and drawings (CAST - Other level)
  • Ability to read and understand written material (CAST - Other level)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews existing specifications with user groups and Fleet maintenance personnel and vendors.
  • Identifies needed vehicle and equipment standard updates to support WE changing needs.
  • Reviews, prepares, re-types, files, and maintains specifications.
  • Prepares all in-service forms.
  • As needed, attends all equipment shows for new products and technologies throughout the U.S.
  • Coordinates vendor demonstrations.
  • Routes all requisitions to appropriate personnel.
  • Confers with all WE user groups, Fleet & Services management, and vendors.
  • Attends vehicle standards committee meetings, etc.
  • Performs all clerical functions to include inputting information on a computer, typing, filing, etc.
  • Finalizes bid packages, determines list of suppliers for bid package, reviews bid responses and compares specifications to bid responses.
  • Decides whether bid should be accepted or rejected.
  • Develops list of vehicles and equipment to be retired and replaced for future budget years based on age and condition.
  • Tracks the status of vehicles and equipment purchases against approved budget.
  • Updates budget information to reflect changes in budget plans.
  • Attends annual budget review meetings with WE user groups.
  • Controls and performs all receipting for WE equipment, SAP/IMPACT computer systems utilized for this task.
  • Initiates Plant Accounting paperwork to place new and retired vehicles out-of-service.
  • Assists investment and recovery personnel to include advising, planning, and coordinating vehicle and equipment auctions.
  • Files all associated paperwork.
  • Ensures all new vehicle and equipment meets WE specifications.
