About The Position

BIM Technology Management (BIMTM) has spent years building an all-star team of BIM (building information modeling) professionals to drive innovation in the arena of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. Our mission is to revolutionize project delivery through advanced BIM technology and seamless collaboration, while empowering architects, contractors, and engineers to gain the advantage of 3D construction design. We are currently seeking a talented Sr VDC Engineer with a strong background in working with General Contractors managing clash detection and MEP coordination and contribute to our ongoing success. As a VDC Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading the development and maintenance of 3D BIM models, ensuring data accuracy, coordination, identifying and resolving clashes, creating documentation and adherence to standards. Your responsibilities will include model creation/management, data entry, quality control, and collaboration with project teams to contribute to the success of construction and design projects while offering valuable learning opportunities in the world of BIM.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in related field such as Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 3-5 years of BIM/VDC Experience leading MEP Coordination for large commercial construction projects.
  • An empathetic approach to teamwork and leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and the Design/Construction process.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to the intended audience.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to creatively solve problems, navigate ambiguity, and prioritize work.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining top-quality deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting GC self-perform trades with BIM workflows is a plus.
  • Proficiency with BIM software (e.g.Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360) and related plugins is a plus.
  • Leadership to train less experienced colleagues.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building practices and industry certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with Laser Scanning, Drones, and Total Stations are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Model Creation: Lead the development and creation of 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
  • Data Entry: Input accurate and up-to-date information into BIM software to ensure the models reflect the current project status.
  • Model Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain BIM models to reflect design changes, revisions, and project developments. Work with project members to ensure understanding and implementation of BIMTM processes.
  • Coordination Lead: Lead the coordination team to resolve clashes and conflicts in BIM models, ensuring accurate coordination among different systems.
  • Quality Control: Perform model quality checks to ensure adherence to BIM standards, accuracy, and completeness. Conversational knowledge of MEP Systems is required to have meaningful conversations with team members.
  • Documentation: Generate drawings, reports, and documentation from BIM models as required for project documentation reviews.
  • Data Management: Lead the project team in advanced workflows of data management throughout the coordination project.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency is expected in BIM software tools and stay up-to-date with software updates and enhancements.
  • Training and Learning: Engage in ongoing training to improve BIM skills and stay informed about best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure effective communication and data sharing.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues or discrepancies in BIM models, and working with team members to resolve issues when needed. Support for advanced / workflow specific topics are expected and will be provided.
  • Data Management: Manage and organize project data, files, and documentation within the BIM environment.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on the progress and status of BIM Coordination tasks to project leads and managers.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage tasks and deadlines to contribute to project milestones and goals.
  • Schedule Management: Work with the client to understand the construction schedule and sequence constraints and plan the coordination process to support those constraints.
