About The Position

Located in the heart of Washington, Confluence Health enjoys open skies, snow-capped mountains, and the lakes and rivers of the high desert. This is a pool, as needed position with no guarantee of hours. The staff vascular sonographer's primary responsibilities are the performance of high quality vascular ultrasound examinations primarily in outpatient environments according to physician's orders, utilizing complex ultrasound equipment. The role involves confidently identifying, evaluating and documenting the presence or absence of vascular pathology adhering to the standards established by the Society of Vascular Ultrasound. The sonographer will also assist the vascular surgeon in the performance of venous ablations in the OR, as well as other special procedures. Participation in ongoing quality assurance and quality improvement processes in addition to required education within the Vascular Lab is expected. The position adheres to departmental policies and philosophies to provide customers with the highest quality service.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology ultrasound training program or a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years).
  • One-year full time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory.
  • Active status RVT or CCI certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license and reliable vehicle transportation.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with current hospital information systems (EPIC), Vascular structural reporting and PACs archive/ retrieval.

Nice To Haves

  • A working knowledge of computers, accurate keyboarding skills, and email communication.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform independently high quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound examinations following Confluence Health's Vascular department policies and procedures, adhering to the current standards established by Society of Vascular Ultrasound.
  • Prepare a preliminary sonographer structured report including all pertinent data for the reading vascular surgeon in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Recognize and alert the attending reading physician of dangerous or critical findings which need immediate attention.
  • Assist the physician in the performance of venous ablation procedures and other special procedures.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills with physicians, colleagues and support staff in accordance with the Confluence Health standards to promote best quality patient care.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of vascular sonographer students completing their clinical internship.
  • Maintains required continuing medical education credits for professional credential and IAC specific requirements.
  • Attends required departmental meetings, in-services, peer review and case presentations Participates and attends required quarterly quality improvement meetings and processes to satisfy the mandatory requirements of our IAC designation.
  • Maintains Professional certification in vascular ultrasound through ARDMS and or CCI.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with current hospital information systems (EPIC), Vascular structural reporting and PACs archive/ retrieval.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
