About The Position

As a Vascular Access Nurse, the candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities visiting patients daily locally in the Greater Houston, Texas area. Working within the guidelines set forth by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners and the terms of employment with Dynamic Access: - Provides care to increasingly complex patients and coordinates with the interdisciplinary team. - Identifies and presents areas for improvement in patient care and company operations. - Follows the nursing process, demonstrates clinical problem-solving and critical thinking, and makes decisions using evidence-based analytical approach. - Contributes to staff meetings. - Communicates in an active, positive, and effective manner to all health care team members and reports pertinent information to the interdisciplinary team. - Uses therapeutic communication to establish a relationship with the patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary team. - Manages assignments in an efficient manner, accurately documents patient care, organizes multiple priorities and anticipates/plans for potential problems. - Uses downtime efficiently, aware of team members' workload, offers assistance, and responds positively to requests for assistance from others. - Reports "variances" and "near misses" as well as errors, promptly and consistently to improve processes and identify trends. - Implements Dynamic Access initiatives to achieve National Patient Safety Goals. - Identifies own learning needs, consults with manager, and seeks continuing education opportunities to meet those needs. - Working within the policy and procedures and the employee handbook of Dynamic Access. - Working within the policy and procedures of each facility. - Performs bedside insertion of vascular access devices (PICC, Midlines, PIV) utilizing ultrasound and Modified Seldinger techniques. - Establishing intravascular access via implanted ports. - Education to patient and staff accordingly regarding vascular access devices, sterile technique, infection prevention. - Maintains current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas. - Maintains current credentials required for employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in nursing or a related field and at least 5 years in the job offered or another nursing role or a related role as well as a Nursing license issued by The State of Texas Board of Nursing and knowledge of nursing guidelines set forth by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
