About The Position

VIC the PICC ("VTP") is a specialized healthcare provider focused on vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and home healthcare. They provide vascular access device insertion services, post access support services including declotting, line removal, port access and venous access troubleshooting. VTP also provides continuing education, precepting and other educational support to clinical team members and customers. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with VTP's customer's clinical team to resolve venous access issues to facilitate the treatment objectives of the treating physician. You may work inside or outside the hospital setting depending on each individual referral, providing a unique career opportunity to observe different treatment protocols and patient challenges. This role offers a change from traditional nursing, aiming to provide quality care without the rush of patient-to-patient demands.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current license
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs
  • Experience with other vascular access device (VAD) placements using ultrasound
  • Experience in vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification (Full-time: three to four days per week, including weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation; Part-time: minimum of 4 scheduled shifts per month, including weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation)
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Must possess a smart phone
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel to patient sites

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in both ultrasound guided IV (USGIV) placements and vascular access device (VAD) insertions
  • Fully trained vascular access nurses
  • Strong USGIV skills

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines and peripheral IVs with ultrasound and use ECG confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and Vascular Access devices
  • Provide a wide range of vascular access support services including but not limited to port access, removal of lines, declotting, etc.
  • Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines and many other CVAD's
  • Visit patients in different customer facilities and be willing to travel to customer facilities
  • Fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated based on business needs
