About The Position

The Varsity Softball Head Coach is responsible for building and leading a Christ-centered, competitive, and developmentally excellent softball program. This leader fosters an elite training environment rooted in discipleship, where athletes develop their skills, discipline, teamwork, and personal character. As a coach in our community, you serve as a model of Christ-like leadership and guide student-athletes toward spiritual formation and maturity. All coaches in our community must profess their faith in Jesus Christ and be actively involved in a local church. We believe that athletic fields are classrooms , and that coaching, playing, teaching, and training are acts of worship. The ideal candidate is committed to integrating faith and sport, shepherding students, and cultivating a culture of excellence rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior .

Requirements

  • Spiritual Requirements A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ , demonstrated through lifestyle, character, and testimony.
  • Agreement with and commitment to uphold the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Passion for discipleship and Christ-centered mentorship of students.
  • Professional/Coaching Requirements Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, collegiate, or professional level preferred.
  • Deep understanding of softball techniques, strategy, skill development, and training methodology.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to create an elite training environment that develops complete athletes—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of background check and required coaching certifications.
  • Personal Characteristics Demonstrates humility, integrity, and servant leadership.
  • Passionate about teaching and shaping young people.
  • Disciplined, organized, and committed to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Culture Establish and sustain a program culture grounded in biblical principles, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
  • Model Christ-like leadership, serving as a mentor and spiritual example to student-athletes.
  • Promote a team environment that emphasizes integrity, humility, discipline, accountability, and joy.
  • Use practices, games, and team meetings as opportunities to teach life lessons that reflect the mission of the school.
  • Player Development & Training Design and implement a comprehensive player development system focused on technical skill, tactical understanding, and in conjunction with our Sports Performance Coaches, support a rigorous strength and conditioning program as an integral part of practice.
  • Create structured, purposeful, and high-intensity training sessions that align with elite-level softball standards.
  • Evaluate performance and provide clear, constructive feedback that encourages growth.
  • Discipleship & Spiritual Formation Integrate prayer, Scripture, and spiritual conversations into team routines.
  • Facilitate intentional discipleship through relationships, team devotionals, and teachable moments on and off the field.
  • Encourage athletes to use their gifts to glorify God and to compete with a spirit of worship, gratitude, and excellence.
  • Team & Game Management Teach and implement advanced offensive and defensive strategies suitable for competitive varsity-level softball.
  • Lead all aspects of game preparation, including scouting, film review, lineup decisions, and in-game adjustments.
  • Ensure athletes learn to compete with passion, sportsmanship, and biblical character.
  • Operations & Program Logistics Coordinate scheduling, transportation, uniforms, and equipment needs with the Athletic Director.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and professional training environment.
  • Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, staff, and school leadership.
  • Promote the program within the school community and assist with student-athlete recruitment and retention when appropriate.
  • Staff Oversight Recruit, mentor, and supervise assistant coaches.
  • Ensure all staff members align with the school’s mission and serve as positive, Christ-centered role models.
