About The Position

Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley. Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools. The Team Member we are searching for The ideal Assistant Athletic Coach believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • Possess a current CPR/First Aid card
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required
  • Prior coaching experience and knowledge of sports rules and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Must be flexible and team-oriented
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to motivate and provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship

  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

Nice To Haves

  • Prior playing experience is preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach with instructing players in rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of sport
  • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by head coach
  • Assess player’s skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students
  • Assist with determining game strategy
  • Assist the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security
  • Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach
  • Assist the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season
  • Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
