About The Position

The Value Analysis Program Coordinator is responsible for the management of the Value Analysis Program. This position will organize, direct, and implement an infrastructure for a systems-approach to clinical value analysis across all clinical service lines to drive enterprise-wide product change while serving as a facilitator of UCH’s product standardization / utilization initiatives. The Value Analysis Program Coordinator interacts with various hospital departments and team members to provide data analysis, process review, and goal setting to achieve a best practice value analysis program. This will require the Value Analysis Program Coordinator to assess and effectively identify opportunities, manage new product requests and product evaluations, manage and facilitate solutions to barriers for improvement, understand cost and savings models while supporting the Value Analysis Guiding Principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare or nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Master’s degree in healthcare or business-related field.
  • Clinical license preferred.
  • Certification in value analysis or a clinical specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the process and key requirements of the Value Analysis Program supporting new product / technology requests as well as ongoing product efficiency initiatives.
  • Leads and manages of the Value Analysis Program and its clinical multi-disciplinary committees consistent with UCH policy / procedure.
  • Manages the assessment process for new product requests with introduction to Value Analysis clinical multi-disciplinary committees.
  • Manages new product requests and projects via the UCH electronic request / repository tool.
  • Develops strategies focused on supply cost reduction, standardization, and utilization, while maintaining or enhancing patient quality and outcomes.
  • Ensures qualitative/quantitative analyses and methodologies for product utilization and cost reduction efforts including cost containment, utilization, waste reduction, and overall cost per case.
  • Reviews applicable financial, cost benchmarks, clinical, and operational data, as well as evidence based literature to assist teams in evaluating new supplies and new technology.
  • Documents identified and implemented cost savings initiatives and audits related to projected utilization and actual spend.
  • Works in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing Managers and end users to asses and analyze new product introductions and opportunities to support contracting and cost reduction strategies.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with clinical, administrative, and healthcare system executives and staff to ensure effective, results-oriented project outcomes.
  • Facilitates key process requirements with the established product teams to coordinate cost savings opportunities related to product initiatives, new or renewed local or GPO contracts, product evaluations, data / end-user feedback collection, analysis, conversions, and sustainability tracking.
  • Through the Value Analysis teams, works with hospital/system administration, departments, and clinical staff to identify opportunities related to cost-effective selection and utilization of products including but not limited to medical/surgical supplies and capital equipment.
  • Collaborates with the Strategic Sourcing, Distribution, GPO, Logistics and Conversion teams and other relevant suppliers for product launches for both evaluations and product conversions.
  • Facilitate Value Analysis Committee meetings and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences at various levels.
  • Supports new product requestor in preparation of information/presentations and facilitates meetings between Value Analysis Product Committees, staff, physicians, and other appropriate parties.
  • Participates with Group Purchasing Organization(s) to identify cost savings opportunities, program initiatives and best practices.
  • Assists and performs other duties as assigned or related to the role.
  • Secures information / data related to supply cost benchmarks, utilization and independent white papers supporting new product requests and/or product initiatives. Current tools and methods include, but are not limited to, FDA, ECRI, Vizient and other resources.
  • Works to monitor and report system-wide value analysis related cost reductions to administration and department managers.
  • Will track, trend, and report cost savings and avoidance associated with value analysis projects and initiatives.
  • Works with internal Analysists to ensure the integrity of project data, processing, and analysis by entering data in spreadsheets, using pivot tables or in other means in order to create viable analytics for the Value Analysis teams.
  • Maintain and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Value Analysis program activity, clinical and/or financial performance measurements related to value analysis.
  • Provide ongoing communication exchange between Value Analysis and clinicians/physicians regarding new product/technology entry into the health system and changes to existing products and supplies.
  • Provide timely and efficient communication to all requestors and sponsors regarding status of product requests, product evaluations, status updates, approvals / denials.
  • Works with Nursing, Professional Education, Clinical Service Departments to communicate new product approvals and changes in utilization to support Nursing / Professional Educations plans for product education / in-services.
