Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience: Proven track record in automotive engineering product development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid driver’s license with no physical restrictions for vehicle testing.
  • Logistics: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and flexibility to work between Chelsea Proving Grounds, Livonia, and Auburn Hills.

Nice To Haves

  • Chassis Expertise: Deep knowledge of brakes, tires, steering, suspension, and mounts.
  • Data Proficiency: Hands-on experience with vehicle vibration data acquisition and processing.
  • Quality Certifications: DFSS Green/Black Belt or Shainin Green/Black Belt.
  • Language: High level of proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Vibration & Harshness Mitigation: Minimize vehicle sensitivity to brake rotor wear (judder), tire/wheel imbalance, and vehicle shake.
  • Handling & Steering Optimization: Address and resolve issues related to vehicle lead/drift/pull, steering wander, and torque steer to meet performance objectives.
  • Data Acquisition: Conduct in-vehicle accelerometer measurements, including instrumenting vehicles, processing data, and interpreting results according to quality standards.
  • Lifecycle Validation: Manage quality testing from up-front design definition through in-vehicle testing on prototype and pre-production (pilot) properties.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Utilize proactive and reactive problem-solving methodologies to reduce warranty risks and improve overall chassis quality.
