About The Position

The Washer is responsible for operating and maintaining industrial washing and dry-cleaning machines to process laundry according to established procedures and customer requirements. This position ensures efficient flow through the wash process, proper machine operation, accurate chemical usage, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an industrial laundry, dry clean or production environment is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of laundry chemicals, washing formulas, and machine operation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that all necessary chemicals are available for the day’s production.
  • Ensure all washers, dryers, and utilities (e.g., steam, water, pumps) are operational before starting.
  • Turn on all wash room machines.
  • Conduct pre-operation checks on machines to confirm functionality.
  • Load washers with correct linen weight to optimize wash quality and efficiency.
  • Avoid overloading or underloading each washer pocket.
  • Wash one customer’s linen at a time to maintain separation and quality control.
  • Enter accurate customer and product information into machine systems.
  • Always use the correct wash formula and customer code.
  • Tag all linen coming out of the dryers with the correct customer’s name.
  • Leave three pockets empty after colored towels before washing whites to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Weigh all loads for conventional and split-pocket washers before starting.
  • Ensure balanced loading for split-pocket washers to avoid mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a constant workflow to ensure all production floor equipment remains supplied.
  • Monitor dryers and machines throughout the shift to prevent downtime.
  • Complete daily washroom reports, logging load size, formula used, product type, customer, and run time.
  • Unload washers within the targeted time frame (approx. 10 minutes per load).
  • Test washed goods for proper pH levels as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor to line up, weigh, and stage work for processing.
  • Ensure no linen is left unwashed at the end of the shift.
  • Assist in minor maintenance and cleaning of machines as needed.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
