The VA Certifying Official and Administrative Assistant to the Registrar will be responsible for certifying veterans educational benefits (veterans and their dependents) and coordinating ECU’s VA Benefits with the Department of Defense. The position will be required to develop a familiarity with VA policies and procedures, and ensure that ECU is up to date and compliant with the same. The certifying official will be responsible for notifying the Registrar of all VA related changes and student concerns. The position will be responsible for evaluating military education credit Joint-Service-Transcripts (JST) and transcribing the credit to the ECU transcript. The position will be responsible for all current as well as any future reporting requirements to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) that involve the Records Office. The position will be expected to support general Records Office services as determined by the Registrar, including but not limited to serving as a back-up position for the front office. Omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
