About The Position

As a Technology Summer Team Member, you will play a vital role working alongside one of our many Technology Teams. In this role, you’ll utilize your skillset to help develop and enhance our in-house, industry-leading technology. Our technology allows our clients to succeed with industry-first applications, tools and support. You’ll also work on a summer-long project where you’ll collaborate alongside students with backgrounds & passions in software development, databases and infrastructures, cybersecurity, project management, and more! The UX Research and Design team at UWM focuses on understanding user needs and behaviors to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. They conduct user research, usability testing, and design user interfaces that enhance the overall user experience of UWM's digital products and service

Requirements

  • Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2026 or 2027 (current junior/senior status)
  • The ability to work Monday thru Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from May 18th to August 7th (we do not offer any relocation assistance)
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to both thrive in a team environment and effectively work independently to complete assignments on time
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to receive and apply feedback
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills while being comfortable in a fast-moving environment
  • The ability to multitask and demonstrate adaptability and forward thinking in the face of technological or organizational change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex technical issues and solutions in a clear, simple, and understandable way

Responsibilities

  • Help team members in all different roles understand the benefits of certain business improvements that can be made with optimal user interfaces.
  • Employ use of various UX research methods for data driven design decisions.
  • Meet with stakeholders and development teams to understand business and functional requirements.
  • Create wireframes/mock-ups/reports for internal and external facing products and present to development team and stakeholders.
  • Participate in cohort project with other Summer Team Members, developing and designing team specific tasks, executing project work, and delivering progress presentations.
  • Participate in project focused Scrum rituals (standup, refinement, planning, retrospective).
