As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a UX Design Intern to join the 202 6 S ummer Internship class. The Digital Marketing Team drives IJM's digital initiatives, shaping strategy and guiding efforts across content, campaigns, and user experiences in partnership with specialized teams. This internship offers hands-on experience in user experience design. The intern will assist in designing and improving digital experiences through research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, gaining exposure to the full UX design process while contributing to meaningful projects. This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Manager, UX Design . The position requires 20 -30 h ours per wee k , primarily during the hours of 8:30 am -5:30pm EST. S ummer internship program dates are J une 1 – Aug . 7, 2026 . Application Deadline : Dec. 31, 2025. Candidate communication will begin in early January.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree must be in progress for DC/Remote Internships and applicants need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.
- Familiarity with UX design principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar).
- Basic understanding of user research methods and usability testing.

Responsibilities
- Conducting usability audits and heuristic evaluations of existing products
- Creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups
- Developing user personas, journey maps, and other research artifacts
- Organizing and documenting research findings
- Maintaining design files
- Supporting team initiatives
- Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support
