The Hartsville, SC Cylinder Mill has an opening for a Utility Worker I. This position involves substituting for paper machine crew members. Applicant must be qualified and willing to move up into positions on the Cylinder Mill paper machines (including stock preparation). This job requires employees with good performance, quality, and safety records.

Requirements

• You have an excellent safety, attendance, quality, and performance history
• You are willing to work overtime, to including weekends
• You have the ability to manually push, pull, and lift some equipment and materials as needed.
• You have labor intensive work history, preferably
• Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.

Responsibilities

• Follow Safe Standard Procedures for all assigned tasks
• Must be able to lift and move items weighing a maximum of 50 pounds
• Assist in the felting of the machine and start up.
• Assist in removing broke from all areas after a sheet break or start up.
• Assist with hauling rejected rolls to roll splitter, and split rolls if necessary.
• Assist with retrieving all necessary shipping materials from storage area
• Inspect powered equipment each shift and complete daily forklift inspection sheet
• Train on operating fork truck and/or Bobcat
• Cutting/removal of wire on bales of waste paper
• Operate guillotine to process scrap rolls
• Able to identify grades of waste paper
• Responsible for housekeeping in the assigned area
