About The Position

We are seeking a Utility Worker II to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater systems. This role involves fieldwork, equipment operation, and on-call responsibilities in support of essential public infrastructure. Requirements

  • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License
  • New Mexico Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years of experience in the water utility field

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of water distribution system operations and maintenance
  • Experience operating heavy equipment
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Digital literacy (CMMS systems, mobile devices, work management software)
  • New Mexico Water Supply Level 1 or Water Distribution Level 1 certification (or ability to obtain within 2 years)

Responsibilities

  • Install, locate, maintain, and repair water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, PRVs, and meters
  • Perform routine servicing and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater systems
  • Locate and mark underground utilities using maps and tools
  • Operate dump trucks, hydro excavators, trenching equipment (Ditch Witch), and other heavy equipment
  • Load/unload materials and dig/refill trenches
  • Perform routine inspections and cleaning of vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain grounds and facilities as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and project SOPs
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to call-ins as required
