Performs manual tasks involved in the maintenance and construction of streets, walkways, parks, lawns, ditches, storm sewers, and/or sewage plants, either on the concrete crew, asphalt crew, jet truck or camera crew, building, repairing, clearing, and televising streets and drainage. Some positions will require the performance of other essential functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift. Some positions require working irregular hours, shifts, holidays, weekends, and call outs. Concrete crews prepare concrete, repairs cave-ins and other duties: Prepare site by digging manually. Build forms for concrete by measuring, cutting, nailing, and leveling wood. Tie rebar before pouring concrete. Spread and level sand or rock. Raking, trolling, edging, and floating concrete. Assemble/disassemble wooden forms. Backfill work area. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Asphalt crews repair streets by installing asphalt and clean storm sewers, drains, culverts other duties: Shovel and rake asphalt until smooth, oil and temper and prep street for asphalt overlay. Camera crews film storm sewers and drains and other duties: Hoists camera into storm sewer and photographs drain lines to determine status of lines.
