Utility Worker I or II - Wastewater Collections Division
About The Position
The City of Grants Pass Public Works Department is currently recruiting for a full-time Utility Worker I or II to join our dedicated Wastewater Collection Division (position level depends on qualifications). We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for exceptional public service to join our team. Key Responsibilities for a Utility Worker for Wastewater Collection: Operates a high-pressure vacuum truck to excavate holes, unclog storm drains, remove debris from around pipes, clear catch basins, and various similar tasks; repairs cleaning hose as needed. Completes sewer system cleaning with use of proper nozzle selection and pressure selection based upon the size and type of pipe. Inspects and assists with needed repairs of wastewater manholes and pipes for cracked and/or broken interior and exterior structures. Safely operates the closed-circuit television (CCTV) van to inspect Wastewater pipes. This position is covered in the Teamsters bargaining unit and incumbents must live within a 30 minute drive of their regularly assigned work site. Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of related experience, are required for Utility Worker I; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in the job description.
- Valid Oregon Driver's License Class C
- Motorcycle endorsement may be required depending on assignment
- Oregon Certified Flagger (excluding Water Restoration) within 12 months of appointment
- Valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License Class B with tanker endorsement within 12 months of appointment
- Forklift Certificate within 18 months of appointment
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of directly related experience in a utility environment are required for Utility Worker II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in the job description.
- Valid Oregon Driver's License Class C and Commercial Driver's License Class B with tanker endorsement
- Forklift Certificate
- Oregon Certified Flagger (excluding Water Restoration)
- Oregon DEQ Wastewater Collection II Certificate
- NASSCO Pipeline Assessment (PACP) and Manhole Assessment (MACP) Certificates
