About The Position

Eagle River Water and Sanitation District is seeking a dedicated and professional Utility Services Supervisor to join our team. This role plays a key part in strengthening community connections while leading the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). Our Utility Services Technicians are often the first point of connection between the District and its customers and serve as the frontline link to the community. While not everyone understands our operations, every community member knows their monthly bill. An accurate meter read and a friendly, professional interaction play a significant role in creating a positive customer experience. This role will be responsible for supervising the meter services program, which includes reading, installing, inspecting, and testing water meters and advanced metering infrastructure equipment, locating and operating curb stops, as well as supervising a talented and dedicated team of meter technicians. Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will bring (5) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
  • Candidates with experience in administration, planning, operations, purchasing, scheduling, project management, etc. preferred.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures related to water and wastewater utility services (plumbing, fire suppression systems, and inspection work).
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain, within a set timeframe, a Class 4 Water Distribution System Operator and Class 4 Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification.
  • Demonstrated implementation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle a large variety of tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Proven customer service and communication skills (verbal and written). This role will work directly with our customers, including hotels, resorts, and engineering teams, to explain clearly and confidently our processes and procedures for efficient metering services. Public speaking or presentation skills are helpful.
  • Research, data analysis, and math skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of local area preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license within 30 days of full-time employment and be insurable under District's standards.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first six (6) months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with experience in administration, planning, operations, purchasing, scheduling, project management, etc. preferred.
  • Backflow prevention and cross connection control knowledge preferred.
  • Public speaking or presentation skills are helpful.
  • Strong experience in Cloud-Based Technology and software management and integration preferred.
  • Knowledge of local area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Supervise the meter services team, including performance management, planning, training, and certification maintenance.
  • Relationships: Act as a liaison with other departments and committees to ensure smooth operations.
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers regarding meter readings, accounts, and inquiries.
  • Maintenance: Oversee meter reading, repairs, testing, and infrastructure management.
  • Scheduling: Develop procedures, manage hardware and software systems, and maintain accurate records.
  • Project Management: Lead AMI system maintenance, infrastructure projects, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Budgeting: Manage inventory, equipment purchases, and the departmental budget.
  • Data Analysis: Review consumption reports, troubleshoot data issues, and maintain records.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with other departments, support customer service operations, and respond to emergencies.
  • Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a strong culture of safety.
