Utility [Kitchen General Cleaner/AM Shift] Compensation: Salary Range $18.00 - $18.00 per hour Position Summary Utility Persons [Kitchen General Cleaners] are responsible for the proper storage and thorough sanitation of all china, silverware, and glassware within the hotel. This role involves ensuring that all kitchen utensils and dining ware are cleaned to the highest standards, organized efficiently, and stored safely. Additionally, Utility Persons are tasked with maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, including floors, counters, and equipment. They play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by maintaining a hygienic and orderly work environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and committed to upholding the hotel's standards of cleanliness and safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand for a long period of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dishwashing machines.
  • Ensure dishwasher temperature is within the specified range and the chemicals are properly connected to the machine.
  • Properly clean and disinfect the dishwashing machine.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Check for broken items on the floor and wet areas that may be hazardous, and remove the hazard.
  • Clean walls, table, racks, sink, floor mats, and disposal areas.
  • Clean ovens, hoods, filters, drains, hot boxes, and ceiling vents.
  • Empty all trash cans.
  • Perform special cleaning projects as assigned.
  • Understand and use safety procedures when using all equipment.
  • Understands chemical hazards and follows safety procedures when using chemicals, chemical compounds, and cleaning products.
  • Know the correct temperature for washing, rinsing, and pre-soaking of all pots, pans, utensils, plates, and glasses.
  • Receive deliveries and place stock itemstheir designated areas.
  • Follow proper sanitation procedures for sanitizing items that are unable to be washed in the dishwasher.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the loading dock and dumpster area.
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the hotel, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
  • The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands, and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
