About The Position

We are seeking safety minded team members with an attention to detail for a Utility Operator position in the Single Web Printing Department in our fast paced, manufacturing facility located in Montoursville, PA on 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM). Must maintain appropriate workflow of production, as well as assist in any related operation of that product. Would be responsible for running the slitting machine. Must be fully cross trained to run a Mark Andy printing press and would act as back up operator. Must ensure product is produced to quality standard, while maintaining safety and production standards. This is a skilled level position.

Requirements

  • Able to pass Color Acuity Test
  • Ability to understand basic written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to communicate with management and coworkers in order to meet departmental goals.
  • Ability to run a printing press successfully to established standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 months prior experience as a packer 2; or 1 Year of Plant Employment (Internal)
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience (external)
  • Previous Machine Operation Experience Preferred.
  • Fulfilled Operator 1 requirements within 6 months of employment – Preferred
  • Any combination of education, skills, and experience that effectively meets the requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the press for scheduled runs.
  • Mounting raw plate, napkin or label stock to the press
  • Determining formulation of inks needed for printer and transferring them into printing stations.
  • Making correct pressure adjustments for printing cylinders to attain necessary print.
  • Ensuring correct alignment of web.
  • Accomplishing any necessary adjustments during the run.
  • Removing finished roll from rewind stand at completed run.
  • Adheres to all safety rules, procedures, and protocol.
  • Examining the finished product.
  • Ensuring the quality of the print for correct registration or color.
  • Addressing any concerns as they occur.
  • Must maintain positive working relationships with team members.
  • Consistently keeps up with machine output.
  • Assists Operators with basic Operator functions (wrapper jams, roll changes)
  • Preparing the roll of plate stock onto the roll stand with the assistance of other operators.
  • Determining when product meets quality standards of all areas for further operations of packaging.
  • Assist packers with labeling of bags and boxes.
  • Maintain Housekeeping.
  • Perform roll changes to a new item using the item changeover procedure checklist.
