Brief Role DescriptionThis candidate will support Electrify America’s relationship with utilities by providing technical and coordination support related to the interconnection of our assets to the grid. Technical and subject matter expert for utility operations related topics. Identify, cultivate and manage utility relationships Provides central coordination between major California utilities and internal project managers regarding construction projects, and associated problem identification, resolution, and follow up. Responsible for working with the different utilities across the country to maximize Electrify America budgets, site acquisition, charger implementation, grid interaction to collectively target optimal charger utilization rates and electricity pricing. Providing support to the different internal functional groups and external stakeholders as it relates to utility interconnections Review agreements, plans, specifications and billings submitted by the utility companies. Provide support on new utility account setup and ongoing utility account support They will develop and maintain strong relationships with utilities and project owners. Candidate will act as a source of expertise within the Electrify America team, helping to accelerate program implementation through constant process improvement and sharing of best practices. This includes continuing to find efficiencies in cost structures through new delivery models, vertical integration, in-sourcing and other activities that drive down the cost of site development, construction and commissioning.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience coordinating with utilities in the design and construction of new service
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, other technical degree or equivalent work experience

  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic and well-established utility principles, practices and regulations
  • Ability to communicate utility / engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations
  • Provides support to operational areas as it related to utility interconnection or ongoing service
  • Project management across all phases of the project lifecycle including
  • Demonstrated ability to track, escalate and manage risks & issues
  • Ability to address customer energy consumption inquiries, ability to read and interpret and process payment for utility invoices and monthly utility bills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer)
  • Previous experience working with California utilities with new service applications
  • Extensive knowledge of utility requirements for electrical infrastructure as it related to EV charging and related equipment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of procedures, services offered rate tariffs, rules and regulations, and applicable state and
  • Understanding of EV Charging ecosystem (manufacturers, installation companies, utilities and related government agencies)

Responsibilities

  • Manage key relationships, provide technical support, and coordination with utilities (50%)
  • Provide technical utility interconnection support to EA operations and technical teams. This includes but is not limited to the review of load letters, utility designs, and utility required documents (40%)
  • Manage and oversee utility billing and utility line extension contracts (10%)
