About The Position

The Utility Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance and routine/emergency repairs on the City's water and wastewater system and associated physical infrastructure. The position is responsible for connection and disconnection of customer services. The position maintains the sewer lagoon and operates the discharge pump. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in general maintenance
  • Possession of State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) certification in the following (or ability to obtain them within 24 months of employment): Water Treatment Level I Water Distribution Level I Wastewater Collection Level I Wastewater Treatment Level I

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance on the City's water and wastewater system
  • Performs routine/emergency repairs on the City's water and wastewater system
  • Maintains associated physical infrastructure
  • Connection and disconnection of customer services
  • Maintains the sewer lagoon
  • Operates the discharge pump
  • Responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as assigned
