Position will be open until filled. We are currently seeking: A utility maintenance technician who, under general supervision, participates in skilled construction, and mechanical work including, maintenance and repair of Water and Wastewater (W/WW) treatment plant equipment; fabrication, installation and overhaul of equipment that is necessary for plant operation. Your responsibilities will include: Performing a variety of skilled labor in the installation, maintenance and repair of W/WW treatment plant equipment and components; reading and interpreting diagrams, schematics and blueprints; assisting with maintenance of facilities and grounds. Functioning as a lead worker of a crew, and making appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills. Monitoring W/WW plant operations and inspecting facilities and equipment to determine maintenance needs; identifying specific maintenance needs, estimating repair and maintenance requirements, and recommending corrective actions; installing equipment and components and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical and electromechanical equipment and components as directed. Examining equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots actual and potential problems; repairing, disassembling, rebuilding and adjusting equipment and components; fabricating and reconditioning parts as needed; ensuring equipment functions meet job specifications and technical codes. Performing job functions within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifying supervisors of mechanical repair problems beyond the scope of authority. Maintaining W/WW plant work areas in a safe and orderly condition; operating and maintaining a variety of specialized vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting vehicle and equipment problems requiring additional repair. Ensuring that safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations. Ensuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up and stored according to City policy and procedures; responding to emergencies as needed. Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, rotating on call position that may include holidays or weekends. Regular and timely attendance is required.
