About The Position

Under indirect supervision on an assigned shift, participates in the operation and quality control of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. Responsible for the quality of effluent as set by Federal, State, and City regulations. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Makes periodic rounds of the plant to assure that the plant process is operating properly. Monitors and records the flow through the plant. Collects samples for laboratory analysis. Performs standard tests for operations control. Maintains records for operations control of the plant (every 2 hours). Checks all pumps, motors, engines, and blowers and associated equipment. Fills out maintenance request forms on equipment not operating properly. Reports the status of the plant to the supervisor. Maintains flow distribution to; industrial, equalization, digestion, sludge, etc. Removes debris from clarifier as needed. Communicates to the oncoming operator the plant status and any hazards. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED).
  • Must be able to obtain a TCEQ Class D Wastewater Treatment Certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant is preferred.
