About The Position

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for two Utility Agents. These positions coordinate utility relocation projects and railroad involvements by partnering with other areas within the Project Development & Delivery program. Responsible for administering contracts for project-related work. Alos responsible for providing input and review of subsurface utility engineer projects. One position will be in the Utility Construction Section and one position will be in the Utility Engineering section. Both positions work out of the Helena office. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in Utilities, Right of Way, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 6 years of related experience.
  • Skill in directing, organizing, and coordinating multiple staff and projects.
  • Ability to examine, interpret and translate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to learn the state and federal regulations pertaining to utility placement and relocation.
  • Driver’s record will be verified.
  • Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records.
  • Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201, "State Vehicle Use," and MDT Policy #6.03.001, "State Vehicle Use Policy" are conditions of employment.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire.
