About The Position

The Impact You Will Make The Utilities Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all plant utility systems that support pharmaceutical manufacturing. These systems include HVAC, clean steam, purified water (PW), water for injection (WFI), compressed air, process chilled water, and other critical utilities. The technician ensures systems operate in compliance with GMP, FDA, and corporate standards while maintaining optimal reliability and efficiency. Schedule: 5:00am-1:30pm Sunday-Thursday

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in utilities, facilities, or maintenance operations — preferably in a GMP-regulated or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Working knowledge of clean utility systems (PW, WFI, clean steam) and building management systems (BMS).
  • Experience with CMMS software and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Understanding of GMP, OSHA, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in industrial environments.
  • Rotating shifts or on-call duty may be required to support 24/7 operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain critical utility systems including: Boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, Frick Systems and vacuum systems.
  • Clean utilities such as purified water, WFI, clean steam, and compressed gases.
  • HVAC systems serving classified and non-classified areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), corrective repairs, and system calibrations per established SOPs and schedules.
  • Record operational data, trends, and maintenance activities in CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP).
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Support system startups, shutdowns, and validation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and safety regulations through accurate documentation and adherence to procedures.
  • Participate in investigations, audits, and inspections as required.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and report system deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality departments to support continuous improvement projects.
  • Respond to off-hours alarms and emergencies.
