About The Position

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation and reliability of ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, boiler/condensate and water supply systems. Essential Functions Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on plant utility systems; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Communicate downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintains all maintenance logs on assigned shift Sees that company tools and equipment are maintained properly Promotes and exhibits strong safety practices Ensures timely and proper completion of work orders Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct. Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
  • Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Technical Zeal, Deals with Uncertainty, Basic Safety, Power Tools, Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Supervision, Job Knowledge, Productivity.
  • Previous experience in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Plans and Aligns: Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ensure immediate and appropriate actions are taken to support our customers and team.
  • Action Oriented: Must be able to prioritize, organize and work independently with minimal supervision and remain productive at all times.

  • Working knowledge of dairy processing equipment and plant facilities
  • Self-motivated, willing to accept responsibility, and make good decisions
  • Must have own hand tools and knowledge of proper use
  • Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
  • Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
  • Requires skills in welding, electrical, troubleshooting, and maintenance & repair of all plant equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for a manufacturing operation
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity SAP
  • Familiarity with GMP's, SOP, & SAG's
  • Regular and timely attendance required
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required

Nice To Haves

  • License in HVAC, Water Treatment, Industrial Refrigeration (RETA) or Boiler certification strongly desired
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience a plus
