About The Position

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Install, tests, inspects, locates, troubleshoots, evaluates, monitor, maintains and repairs all components and assets of the County's water distribution and wastewater collection system; Prepares and maintains accurate work records; Assists with construction and installation projects as assigned; Performs general building and grounds maintenance and repair work as required; maintains neat and safe shop areas. Operates heavy equipment including loaders, mowers, trucks and cranes. Works outside of regular work schedule to include on-call, holidays, nights, and weekends when needed. Respond and follow through with work order request. Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Attends meetings, training, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills. Considered essential employee in the event of inclement weather or emergency conditions. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Specialized vocational training or technical diploma is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license. Possession of South Carolina Commercial Driver's license is preferred. Must obtain "B" Commercial Driver's License within 18 months.
  • Must obtain Class "D" Water Distribution and/or "D" Wastewater Collections within 12 months of hire. May require to pursue higher certifications/licenses.
  • Requires one year of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of South Carolina Commercial Driver's license is preferred.
  • Specialized vocational training or technical diploma is desirable.
