As one of the newest Chenega companies, Chenega Defense & Aerospace Solutions (CDAS) was developed with the purpose of providing expert Engineering and Technical Support Services to federal customers. CDAS requires the User Experience (UX) Researcher, Level III to support the customer by applying extensive knowledge of various sciences (e.g., Human Factors, Marketing, or Psychology) and experience applying web usability testing methods of web user research studies (e.g., usability studies, creation of user profiles or personas, participatory design, surveys, heuristic evaluations, and cognitive walkthroughs). The User Experience (UX) Researcher, Level III organizes, directs, and coordinates the planning and execution of research projects, including developing research proposals, design research efforts to address specific business needs, monitoring projects and reporting regularly on progress, developing research materials based on scientific best practices, supervising research execution, developing data analysis plans for research efforts, and interpreting and summarizing research results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • TS/SCI clearance required
  • Intermediate experience conducting interviews, user requirements analysis, task analysis, conceptual modeling, information architecture, usability testing, and UX research functions.
  • Intermediate experience leading participatory and iterative design activities, including observational studies, customer interviews, and communicating research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale and goals, both verbally and visually.
  • Demonstrated experience applying product usability moderation and/or test method selection.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating consumer research into a business’s product design practice.
  • Demonstrated experience with product usability testing tools.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing methodology concepts for analysis and brief findings to organizations as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Nielsen Norman Group UX certification is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience implementing industry standards for user experience methodologies, designing technical resources, and web best practices is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in UX research or a related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in statistical analysis, qualitative analysis, and/or quantitative analysis is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience with analytics tools is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct UX research (to conduct heuristic evaluations) on websites, software applications, and mobile apps for the customer’s web enterprises to enhance the customer user experience.
  • Design user-centered test plans across the design cycle from concept phase to post-release evaluations.
  • Conduct web research studies (e.g., usability studies, creation of personas, and cognitive walkthroughs) to design user-centered test plans across the design cycle from concept phase to post-release evaluations.
  • Incorporate quantitative and qualitative UX research methodologies to convey complex technical and business requirements.
  • Conduct UX research through usability testing, interviews, card sorting, and other industry methodologies. Based on that research, provide data-driven reports, in a variety of formats, to diverse audiences.
  • Create and deliver UX educational and informational briefs.
  • Conduct and incorporate UX research techniques, like observations, understandings, analysis, interviews, surveys, questionnaires, card sorts, usability tests, tree tests, and A/B testing to prove or disprove assumptions, find commonalities across our target audience members, and recognize their needs, goals, and mental models in the customer digital space, either live or remote.
  • Communicate research findings via written reports and oral presentations.
  • Apply web usability testing methods of web user research studies (e.g., usability studies, creation of user profiles or personas, participatory design, surveys, heuristic evaluations, and cognitive walkthroughs).
  • Other duties as assigned.
