US Consumer and SMB Public Policy Manager

About The Position

This new position will focus on developing PayPal's US-focused consumer financial and SMB public policy positions to support the US-based government relations team's engagement with US federal and state policymakers. The candidate will liaise closely with PayPal's Consumer Group, business units, and other PayPal teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional written communication skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • An ideal candidate should possess extensive policy experience and a strong understanding of consumer financial services and small business issues, along with knowledge of various federal and state regulatory processes, including those related to the CFPB and the Treasury Department.
  • Candidates must be able to quickly analyze information and succinctly distill and explain complex policy issues to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend best practices for government relations and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead functional projects and programs related to government relations.
  • Conduct analysis to understand business trends and their implications for government relations.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts to influence public policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with government relations strategies.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance and public policy issues.
  • Developing the organization's public policy positions to shape and influence consumer financial and small business-related legislation and regulations at the federal and state levels, including, but not limited to, BNPL policies, credit reporting, and small business lending.
  • Lead the development of briefing documents, talking points, and background materials for advocacy engagements.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management and business units to assess relevant public policy impacts and opportunities and to assist in developing strategies to protect and advance the organization's business interests.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key U.S. federal and state government officials and their staff as needed.
  • Represent the organization before trade associations, coalitions, and other stakeholders.
