About The Position

URBN is looking for Regulatory Compliance Specialist to help support our global business. In this exciting role, the Regulatory Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that URBN is selling safe, reliable products to its customers. This role will focus on Hardlines categories to ensure URBN’s products are compliant in the various geographic regions in which URBN does business. This role will also play a pivotal role in proactively ensuring URBN teams are kept up-to-date on the changing regulatory landscape. They will also have the opportunity to actively spearhead and contribute to new projects and initiatives in the Regulatory Compliance department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, highly preferred
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in a Regulatory Compliance or product safety related role,preferably in the retail industry, with experience in hardlines
  • Clear track record of successfully developing and implementing Regulatory Compliance strategies and programs
  • Proven experience reviewing & analyzing Regulatory Compliance test reports for hardlines products (i.e., furniture, tableware, home furnishings, beauty products, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience reading and effectively analyzing regulations from various geographic governing bodies
  • Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage own time and workload, while effectively delegating work as needed
  • Open-minded, collaborative approach to solving issues and implementing new processes
  • Strong communicator with a flexible and adaptable approach to new challenges
  • Ability to see the “big picture” and provide relevant information to assist in strategic decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build relationships and collaborate across a global organization
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking with the ability to plan, organize and execute
  • Ability to analyze information to drive business decisions, manage project plans and resources.
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and strong team player

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze global regulations (US, Canada, and international) to keep leadership informed and ensure URBN’s Regulatory Guidelines remain current and comprehensive.
  • Lead compliance programs for hardlines categories, including Prop 65 management, product labeling oversight, and the implementation of regulatory audit processes for vendors.
  • Act as a key advisor to Brand, Buying, and Production teams to integrate product safety into the design and procurement phases while collaborating with the UK team to ensure a unified global approach.
  • Support the remediation of product safety issues and potential recalls, partnering with third-party labs, legal counsel, and enforcement bodies as required.
  • Drive awareness of key compliance issues across the organization through training and partnership; engage with industry peers to benchmark best practices and industry standards.
  • Analyze customer feedback and reviews to proactively identify and provide visibility into potential product safety or compliance risks.
