Join us in shaping the future of architecture and design in the Southeast! We are currently seeking an Urban Designer to join either our Charleston or Raleigh offices. You are passionate about design and devoted to quality. You are skilled in urbanism, have an understanding of a variety of building types, and early-stage design ideation, with a focus on preparing urban design projects throughout the Southeast in collaboration with the entire UE team as well as the firm. You will help prepare urban design projects across the firm including master plans, comprehensive and small area plans, concept designs and schematic designs. You will be responsible for key project deliverables, drawings, renderings, diagrams and animations. A Day in the Life: Work side by side in a team environment with our Design Leaders, Project Managers, Architects, Interior Designers, Urban Planners and Emerging Professionals on active production projects Contribute to other design and marketing efforts undertaken by the firm Create visual presentations and communications for client interactions Discover your areas of interest and work with talented mentors Develop design assignments throughout all project phases Coordinate architectural drawings across disciplines Support communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants Play an integral part in overall client satisfaction, design quality and profitability of all projects undertaken that contribute to the firm’s strategic priorities

Requirements

  • Familiarity with principles of urban design
  • Experience with 3D communication, by hand or graphic software such as SketchUp, Rhino and rendering engines such as Lumion and/or Enscape
  • Strong graphic design skills and experience with InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite are required
  • Understanding of relevant codes such as state building codes, ANSI 117.1, BOMA
  • Understanding of the design and procurement processes
  • Ability to direct and motivate work efforts of others and handle project challenges
  • Capability to self-manage project assignments from start to finish with oversight
  • Experience with incorporating research in design process
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Design from a NAAB-accredited university
  • 3+ years of experience in an architectural office or equivalent professional setting is preferred
  • A cover letter, resume and portfolio demonstrating Revit skills and rendering abilities are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Revit is beneficial but not required
  • Experience with AI tools such as Midjourney or Veras and computational tools such as Grasshopper, Dynamo, or Python are beneficial but not required
  • LEED accreditation or interest in achieving accreditation is preferred
