About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language, Secondary Education, or a related field required.
  • Current state certification to teach High School Foreign Language required.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to create innovative, engaging, and student-centered lessons.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including first-generation and underrepresented students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching high school foreign language courses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative foreign language lessons that support students’ communication and comprehension skills.
  • Provide instruction in core high school foreign language concepts, including vocabulary development, pronunciation, grammar, conversation, and reading comprehension.
  • Teach foundational language skills such as sentence structure, verb conjugation, listening comprehension, and conversational dialogue.
  • Integrate interactive and fun instructional strategies such as role-playing, language games, cultural discussions, storytelling, music, and multimedia activities.
  • Incorporate lessons that introduce students to cultural traditions, global perspectives, and the importance of multilingual communication in today’s world.
  • Encourage students to practice language skills through group discussions, presentations, and conversational activities.
  • Design classroom activities that promote confidence in speaking and understanding a foreign language.
  • Assess student progress through participation, assignments, presentations, and classroom activities.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support improvement in language comprehension and communication.
  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports active learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress.
  • Collaborate with TRIO Upward Bound staff to support student academic success and program goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings and program activities as required.
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model, encouraging students to develop global awareness and academic curiosity.
