We are seeking a skilled UPW Facilities Operations & Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and preservation of ultrapure water (UPW) systems in a mission-critical facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting UPW equipment, including filtration systems, reverse osmosis units, UV sterilization systems, and ion exchange systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring reliable performance, equipment readiness, and adherence to client procedures.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience operating and maintaining UPW systems in a mission-critical facility.
  • Hands-on experience with filtration systems, reverse osmosis, UV sterilization systems, and ion exchange.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ultrapure water generation and distribution systems.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and escalate UPW system issues effectively.
  • Understanding of safety practices, lockout/tagout, and maintenance procedures in mission-critical environments.
  • Solid communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers and vendors.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and system monitoring.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to alarms or equipment issues.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Engineering, Mechanical, or related field preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on operating UPW equipment in accordance with client guidelines and procedures.
  • Create and upload documentation for equipment entering the client’s operational system.
  • Conduct preservation activities on non-operating UPW equipment to maintain readiness and integrity.
  • Perform safe state verification and complete sign-off for non-operating equipment.
  • Escalate vendor-required preservation activities to FCE/FFO teams to coordinate site visits.
  • Collaborate with central engineers to resolve escalations and review equipment preservation checklists.
  • Respond promptly to UPW equipment shutdowns and alarms; escalate issues to central engineers when required.
  • Conduct routine rounds and record readings on non-automated UPW equipment and facility areas to verify proper operation.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and system documentation.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
