About The Position

The Baldwin School seeks applicants for the position of a full-time Upper School Spanish Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year who is qualified to teach all levels of Upper School Spanish. The successful candidate will teach four or more classes, make meaningful contributions to the advising and co-curricular programs, engage in those duties typical of independent school life, and support the school's mission. Successful candidates will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education. Successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively to develop innovative and engaging lessons to meet the needs of all learners. They will possess expertise in both Spanish literature and language. Successful candidates will engage students positively, with a growth mindset, and interact productively with colleagues and parents.

Requirements

B.A. in Spanish
Fluent in oral and written Spanish
Strong content knowledge in all relevant areas, including Spanish grammar, culture of the Spanish-speaking world, and Spanish literature
Ability to teach all levels of our Upper School Spanish curriculum, including literature
3-5 years of teaching experience at the Upper School level, preferred
Experience using academic technology software and classroom technology
A commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community that allows for a multitude of perspectives to be heard and respected
Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Teach multiple levels of Spanish classes, from beginning language learning to advanced study of literature
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and a commitment to growth for yourself and your students, by actively pursuing professional development in the teaching of Spanish and other topics relevant to your teaching practice
In partnership with the Department Chair and colleagues, develop appropriate curriculum and lessons to ensure a cohesive learning trajectory from year to year
Create an inclusive and supportive classroom community, establishing routines and building relationships with students; use positive guidance, offering helpful feedback and exhibiting patience, empathy and respect
Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress
Create and regularly update a digital classroom page, using our learning management system (LMS), as a primary means of communicating classroom activities to families
Collaborate with colleagues in other content areas to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning experiences
Serve as an advisor, club leader, chaperone, or other co-curricular leader in support of the Upper School
Maintain an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress, through emails, phone calls, report-writing and in-person conferences; maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration
Other duties as assigned by the Division Head or Head of School.
