About The Position

The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic science teacher for grades 9-12 capable of teaching all levels of chemistry and physics beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This is a 1.0, benefits-eligible position. Applicant review will begin Dec. 15. The Blake School is a pre-kindergarten through grade 12, co-educational, nonsectarian, independent day school enrolling 1,277 bright, talented students from nearly 56 Twin Cities-area communities. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in science, science education or a related field with a strong preference for candidates who hold—or are actively pursuing—an advanced degree in a relevant discipline
  • Substantial professional experience in science education with preference given to candidates who have taught at the upper school (grades 9–12) level
  • Experience teaching STEM subjects with a solid foundation in climate literacy along with familiarity with modeling instruction and other inquiry-based pedagogies

Responsibilities

  • Teach four sections of a combination of chemistry, physics and possibly advanced science electives at various levels in the Upper School (grades 9-12)
  • Advise a group of 10-12 students
  • Hold conferences with students and parents in the fall and spring and write narrative comments for each student at the end of each semester
  • Participate in departmental, divisional and all-school initiatives and meetings
