About The Position

Fort Worth Country Day is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator who loves teaching science and is eager to join a vibrant Upper School community. Reporting to the Head of Upper School, this dynamic, highly qualified, and approachable teacher will serve as both a member of the Upper School science department and an advisor, beginning in August 2026. Our ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students and designs engaging, collaborative lessons that invite learners to construct knowledge together. Drawing inspiration from evidence-based teaching practices and active learning strategies, they foster a classroom where curiosity and intellectual play deepen understanding. Requirements

A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field

3-5 years of classroom teaching experience is preferred
Previous work experience in grades 9-12 in a college preparatory independent school environment is preferred
The ideal candidate should possess a thoughtful approach and knowledge of intercultural communication and inclusion of underrepresented groups.

Responsibilities

Teach five sections, which may include 9th-grade Biology, AP Biology, and AP Environmental Science; specific courses, duties, and assignments vary from year to year
Serve as an advisor for ten to twelve Upper School students
Clearly communicate classroom expectations and grade student work in a timely manner using growth-mindset feedback that provides a clear path forward
Develop strong partnerships with families
Plan experiential learning opportunities and off-campus exploration experiences
Provide extra-help opportunities during free periods and before or after school
Demonstrate joy and enthusiasm in working with teenagers
Love their subject area
Show a strong commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning
Be flexible, collaborative, and eager to join a community that values continual growth
Bring positivity, optimism, and a healthy sense of perspective to their work
