About The Position

The Quad Preparatory School is looking for a mid-day assistant teacher for our Upper School (grades 6-12) campus. The mid-day assistant teacher will fill in for head teachers when needed to provide instruction and social-emotional support to students, as well as to assist with coverage for lunch periods and end-of-day dismissal. Our classrooms typically consist of ten or fewer students. Teachers have the opportunity to receive mentorship, coaching, and support from the clinicians as well as academic administrators.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years experience as a full-time teacher or teacher’s assistant.
  • Master’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, or a related field, or Master’s degree in progress.
  • Special education training, including training in the areas of gifted education and twice-exceptional youth.
  • Secondary (any subject) and/or special education teaching credential.
  • Experience teaching twice-exceptional youth.

Responsibilities

  • Take on the responsibilities of a head teacher following the directions of other classroom teachers.
  • Provide coverage for lunch period duties and end-of-day dismissal
  • Report to the teacher on his or her return as to what was accomplished during the teacher’s absence.
  • Develop and be ready to implement “emergency” lesson plans in the event a teacher’s absence is unexpected and plans are not readily available.
  • Push into the homeroom classes for interdisciplinary lessons and classroom support on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks for Upper School faculty and administration on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Follow the professional code and policies of the school and conduct oneself in a way that promotes the mission of the school.
  • Utilize Google Suite, in particular Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Attend all faculty and staff meetings and required special events (e.g., open houses, Curriculum Night, Carnivale).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
