About The Position

St. Stephen's Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 710 students (grades 6-12), is seeking am Upper School Mathematics Teacher for a full-time position beginning August 1, 2026. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field required – advanced degree preferred
Demonstrated expertise in one or more academic disciplines
Minimum of 2–3 years of Upper School teaching experience, ideally at an independent school
Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and classroom management skills
Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom environment
Ability to effectively engage students across a range of abilities and learning styles
Willingness to adapt to evolving teaching assignments in support of institutional needs
Commitment to professional growth and collaboration with colleagues, including a growth mindset and enthusiasm for lifelong learning and professional development

Responsibilities

Teach four sections of Upper School Mathematics as aligned with your academic background and instructional experience
Design and implement engaging, rigorous, and inclusive curriculum that aligns with school standards and best practices
Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that reflects best practices in teaching and learning
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student inquiry and collaboration and reflects culturally relevant teaching practices
Assess student learning through varied and meaningful formative and summative assessments
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
Collaborate with department colleagues and other faculty on cross-disciplinary and cross-divisional initiatives and assessments
Provide timely, relevant and objective feedback to students and families
Contribute to other areas of school life, such as coaching an athletic team, advising a club or activity, assisting with student leadership programs, or supporting other extracurricular opportunities that enrich the student experience
Serve as a student advisor
Supervise students as age-appropriate during: lunchtime, study halls, afternoon activities, library, Chapel and assembly programs required for students
Serve as a chaperone at student events, participate in student retreats and community service days, and attend team meetings, as assigned
Contribute to the broader school community through participation in meetings, events, and professional development opportunities
