Laurel School seeks talented faculty and staff who will put our students first and strive to make a difference in their lives. We seek to attract faculty and staff who thrive on being engaged participants in our community and are committed to developing young women as authentic learners and leaders. The most successful candidates are solutions-driven, are willing to listen to learn, embrace iteration and practice as a necessary part of the product, see opportunities before problems, and thrive in a fast-paced, forward-thinking educational environment. Laurel lives our mission: to inspire each girl to fulfill her promise and to better the world. Position Summary: We seek a dynamic and talented teacher who can teach a range of college-preparatory and honors-level Upper School mathematics courses, including Algebra and Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, Honors Algebra II, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. Applicants with experience in any part of this range should feel welcome to apply. The ideal teacher will create a rich learning environment, employ varied teaching approaches, and use multiple tools to assess student understanding. S/he will be able to work collaboratively with other STEM teachers and will be guided by differentiated instructional methods in developing and delivering effective lessons to diverse learners. Enthusiasm for devising a variety of student experiences will be key: asking students to pursue inquiry-based learning, designing projects to serve as dynamic assessment tools, encouraging class discussions to deepen student understanding, and interest in developing a curriculum that uses our 140-acre Butler Campus as a classroom.
