About The Position

Charlotte Latin School is seeking a collegial and dedicated Upper School History Teacher for a full-time, 10-month position beginning August 2026. The ideal candidate will teach World and U.S. History, fostering critical thinking and a love of learning in students. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extracurricular activities, advising students, and/or coaching.

Requirements

• Experience teaching World History required, with additional experience teaching US History preferred
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
• Lead teaching experience required; three or more years of lead teaching experience preferred
• Collegiality and a proven ability to contribute to a high-performing team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to demonstrate patience, dedication, compassion, and respect for students
• Promotes critical and creative thinking
• Able to contribute to student life outside the classroom
• Proficient in using technology to support education
• Promotes a safe classroom environment that supports student learning and is conducive to individualized and small-group instruction
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Teach four sections of History
• Partner with colleagues to create and update course curriculum
• Within course teams, collaborate with colleagues toward consistency in grading practices
• Assess students’ performance in a timely and consistent manner
• Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours, and before and after school
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field
• Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching
