General Position Summary The Upholsterer is responsible for making repairs and rebuilding upholstered pads.

Requirements

Works under general supervision.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Works on assignments that are semi routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
Normally follows established procedures on routine work; requires instructions only on new assignments.
Use of power tools such as: band saws, sanders, foam and upholstery material cutting knives etc.
Good hand and finger dexterity.
Self-motivated reliable team player. Must be dependable, on time.
English speaking preferred (speak and writing/reading)
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to learn new skills and behaviors.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Able to see and tell colors
Ability to work mandatory overtime.
Computer skills
Ability to withstand actions that are repetitive in motion.
Completion of an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 3-4 years of experience.
High School Diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

Using a single needle sewing machine to sew material for upholstery covers and webbing for pull straps
Stretch and staple cover to the molded pad to complete the upholstered pad
Spraying glue adhesive in a glue booth
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Responsible for his/her own quality of workmanship.
Be able to maintain an acceptable work pace throughout the day.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Staff is expected to act in a safe manner at all times and ensure that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk.
