Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program designed for historically difficult courses. It involves regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions for all students enrolled in a targeted course. These sessions are informal seminars where students review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and prepare for examinations, integrating course content with reasoning and study skills. SI sessions are led by a student who has successfully completed the course, attends the current course, and collaborates with the professor to create collaborative learning sessions for voluntary student attendance. SI leaders are expected to support classroom instruction, and the program is offered only in classes where the faculty member supports Supplemental Instruction. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualifications, and departmental needs, and all department and University policies and procedures must be adhered to.
